Crezdon Butler: It did not take long for Crezdon Butler to become a consistent corner at Clemson. As a true freshman he became the first Tiger freshman to pick off two passes in a game since 2002. He never started a game that season, but he did total 34 tackles and tied a team high with three interceptions. Butler was named a first-team freshman All-ACC pick by Sporting News in 2006. By the following season Butler was a starter and he has been ever since. Like in 2006, Butler recorded three interceptions on the season, but as a starter he was more involved and finished the season with 61 tackles.

By 2008 Butler was a leader in a very talented secondary. He intercepted four passes and his 52 tackles ranked sixth on the team. Butler was a starting cornerback in every game and his 142 return yards were third most in Clemson history. That was capped off by a 63-yard interception return against Nebraska in the Gator Bowl. Perhaps his best all-around game though was at Virginia when he had seven tackles, all first hits, a tackle for loss, and a 31-yard interception return; that was a key play in the game, as the interception set up a field goal that put the game out of reach. Butler was a big reason Clemson was in the top 10 in the nation in scoring defense and passing defense.

Butler had another stellar season in 2009. Teams simply refused to throw at him. In the first five games of the year, there were five balls thrown his way. Yet he had three passes broken up. There’s something to be said for consistency. Many NFL Draft experts predict that Butler will be a very consistent cover man at the next level. With safety help in some cover-two variation, he can take a top receiver out of the game. By the way, Butler runs the 40 in an incredible 4.3. The sky is the limit for this talented, consistent and hard working 22 year old.
