Jeron Mastrud is a well-balanced tight end for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played college football at Kansas State. Mastrud is a great blocker and provides a large target in the red zone. In his college career, he appeared in 48 of a possible 49 games with the Wildcats and started team-best 26-straight games to finish his career. Mastrud ranks 18th in school history, and second among tight ends, with 1,219 career receiving yards. He is tied for 10th in school history and first among tight ends with 106 career receptions. He caught at least one pass in 26-straight games.

As a freshman he started nine games and caught 17 passes for 235 yards, but more importantly he helped pave the way for a decent ground game. As a sophomore Mastrud continued to improve his blocking and pass catching skills. On the season he caught 30 passes for 316 yards. It was not until 2008 when Mastrud really became a big receiving threat, especially on third-downs and in the red zone. Mastrud ended the season catching 38 passes for 435 yards and two scores. In 2009, the tight end caught 21 catches for 233 yards and a touchdown and was named to First Team All-Big 12 Honors.

Mastrud is unselfish, classy and has a service oriented approach to game and life. The hard-working kid from Oregon signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad on September 8, 2010. Less than three weeks later on September 21, 2010, Mastrud was promoted to the Dolphins active roster. He made his Dolphins and NFL debut on Sept. 26th, 2010 against the New York Jets. He is a much better pass catcher than his numbers indicate and he should make a great addition to the Miami Dolphins passing game.
