Jonas Seawright is a defensive tackle for the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played college football at North Carolina.
Seawright played on both the offensive and defensive lines at Carolina and set the UNC record in the power clean (340 lbs.) by a defensive tackle. In his senior year, Seawright was named captain on the University of North Carolina football team and enjoyed his best season, starting every game and finishing with 29 tackles (13 solo). He also knocked down two passes and blocked a 22-yard field goal against Boston College in the Continental Tire Bowl. In 2003, Seawright played in 12 games with six starts. He had 10 tackles and blocked three kicks - extra points against Florida State and Arizona State and a field goal attempt versus Wake Forest.
In 2005, the 6 foot 6, 330 pounder was signed by the New York Giants and spent his rookie season on the New York Giants practice squad. In 2006 he played in nine games with Big Blue and recorded one tackle. Seawright should make a great addition to the Hartford Colonials.
