Logan Payne is a wide receiver for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was originally signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Minnesota. The speedy wide receiver has also been a member of the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings.
Payne had an awesome Pro Day day for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and was measured with a 39-inch vertical. He bench pressed 225 pounds 16 times, ran a 4.17 shuttle run and a 6.81 second cone drill. He also ran a 4.61 and 4.58 40-yard dash. Payne played in 46 career games for the Gophers, catching 97 passes for 1,344 yards and 11 TDs.
In 2008, Payne made the Seattle Seahawks 53-man roster on opening day after injuries depleted the Seahawks' receiving corps, sidelining Deion Branch, Bobby Engram, and Ben Obomanu. He caught two passes for 25 yards in the Seahawks' season opener against the Buffalo Bills. However, in week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, Payne suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee while leaping to catch a 14-yard pass, and was tackled by 49ers' safety Dashon Goldson. He was placed on injured reserve on September 15, 2008, and missed the rest of the 2008 season.
Payne was signed to the New York Jets' practice squad on October 9, 2010. He had a stellar preseason for the Jets but injured his left wrist in the Giants preseason game. With the wrist now back to 100% look for Payne to be a major contributor to the Jets special teams and offense.
