LaQuan Williams is a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens. He played his college ball for the Maryland Terrapins where he was a stand out special teams player.
As a Redshirt Freshman in 2007 Williams was named to The Sporting News ACC All-Freshman Team. He played in the first 10 games at wide receiver before missing the final three with a knee injury, making seven starts. Williams split time with Isaiah Williams at Z receiver and was fourth on the team with 217 receiving yards. He had a breakout game against the #10th Ranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights recording two catches for a career-high 66 yards, including a spectacular diving grab for 27 yards, which set up Keon Lattimore's fourth-quarter TD. His other 39 yard grab helped set up a 1st half touchdown.
Williams played in all 13 games at wide receiver and on special teams his senior season, starting three times at WR. He had 12 special teams tackles which was tied for second on the team with Darin Drakeford and earned the special teams captain award at the end-of-year banquet. He added two blocked punts, one against Morgan State (9/11) and one against Wake Forest (10/30). He also caught a 24 yard touchdown pass and collected a career high 3 tackles against Wake Forest. He also had a 9 yard touchdown grab against the FIU Panthers in Maryland's 42-28 win on 9/25/10. Williams also made what turned out to be the play of the Virginia game (11/13), an acrobatic 26-yard reception off a tipped pass on third-and-14 which kept the eventual game-winning drive alive. He had a season-best 29-yard catch that set up a touchdown against NC State (11/27) and also recorded a tackle on special teams and forced a fumble vs. the Wolfpack. The sky is bright for the athletic receiver who will be a beast for the Raven's special teams unit.
