Marlon Lucky is a running back for the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Nebraska where he was one of the best running backs in the the school’s history.
Lucky attended North Hollywood High School, where he rushed for 4,881 yards and 88 touchdowns, including 2,036 yards and an incredible 40 touchdowns in his senior season. His performance earned him selection as the most valuable player in his league and first-team CalHi Sports all-state honors. Lucky, who is even a better person off the field returned to North Hollywood High School in 2009 and talked to the former JV football players.
Coming out of high school he was one of the nation’s most sought-after prospects in 2005. Rivals.com ranked him as the second best running back in the country. He ultimately decided to play for the Cornhuskers over Washington, USC and others.
During his freshman year he was a backup to senior Nebraska running back Cory Ross, rushing for only 129 yards on 43 carries. Most of his success came on special teams. During his sophomore season in 2006 Lucky was part of Nebraska's four-man rotation at I-back that helped rush for 2,400 yards and 26 touchdowns. He finished the season with an impressive 728 rushing yards, 383 receiving yards, and 6 rushing touchdowns, earning Second-Team All-Big 12 honors. In 2007 as a junior Lucky became the Cornhuskers' main back, rushing for 1,019 yards and nine touchdowns while also catching a school-record 75 passes for 705 yards and three touchdowns.
Lucky finished his college career with 2,393 rushing yards on 515 carries and 22 touchdowns. He also added 1,379 receiving yards on 135 receptions and four touchdowns. The 135 reception is 4th on Nebraska’s career list. Overall, Lucky played in 50 career games with 29 starts and his 4,214 career all-purpose yards ranks fourth in school history. The 24 year old will no doubt end up as a starting running back for an NFL team in the near future.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers faced the 20th ranked Michigan Wolverines in the 13th Alamo Bowl on December 28th, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas. Nebraska won a thriller 32-28 behind a great running attack which featured Alamo Bowl MVP Cory Ross rushing for 161 yards and a TD.
Lucky wore this jersey in that memorable game. He contributed too by returning 2 kicks for 43 yards and having one carry for 3 yards.
