Sterling Moore is a cornerback for the New England Patriots. He was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football for Southern Methodist University
Moore made an impact in his first season on the Hilltop with a team-high 11 pass breakups on the year. The cornerback added 35 tackles on the season playing in 11 games, starting 10. Moore missed the final two games of the regular season with a knee injury, but recovered in time for SMU's Hawaii Bowl win, starting and notching seven stops against Nevada. He also collected seven tackles in SMU's win at UAB, as the Mustangs snapped a 17-game Conference USA losing streak and a 15-game road losing streak. Moore also recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD against Navy.
Moore has played great in his rookie season with the Patriots with 6 tackles. In the 2011 Monday Night Win against the Kansas City Chiefs, Moore came up with two tackles, delivered a bone-jarring hit on Chiefs' receiver Steve Breaston that help cause Kyle Arrington's second quarter interception, and was also in position on Phillip Adams' interception in the fourth quarter.
