Kendial Lawrence is a running back for the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. Lawrence was signed by the Dallas Cowboys after going undrafted. He played college football at Missouri.
In four seasons, Lawrence carried the ball 444 times for 2,232 yards—5.0 YPC—adding 21 touchdowns and 40 receptions. Lawrence had a terrific Missouri Pro Day running a 4.33 40-yard dash. That time puts him in rare company with a group of running backs who have far out-produced even those backs in the 4.4 range.
In Lawrence’s senior season with Tigers, he rushed for 1000 yards and averaged 5.1 yards per attempt. He also caught 18 balls for 114 yards. And he rushed for 12 touchdowns, which says something, given the injuries on the offensive line. There is no telling how productive he could have been behind a line with dominant blockers. In the Cowboy’s 1st preseason game of the 2013 season, Lawrence ran for a 7 yard touchdown against the Miami Dolphins.
In Lawrence’s 1st season with the Edmonton Eskimos, Lawrence recorded 65 carries for 413 yards and one touchdown. He also recorded 41 receptions for 437 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, Lawrence returned 17 kickoffs for 493 yards with two touchdowns and 46 punt returns for 447 yards. In Week 17 against Saskatchewan, Lawrence recorded 221 all-purpose yards, earning him CFL Special Teams Player of the Week honours. Lawrence was again named the CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the West Semi-Final against Saskatchewan that included three kick returns for 52 yards and seven punt returns for 104 yards, including an 84-yard punt return touchdown. In the West Final against Calgary, Lawrence recorded four catches for 18 yards, six kickoff returns for 110 yards and eight punt returns for 29 yards.
In 2015 with the Eskimos, Lawrence has started six games (six starts) and recorded 15 catches for 207 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed the ball 16 times for 82 yards and a touchdown and had eight kickoff returns for 179 yards and and 25 punt returns for 292 yards.
The featured blue large nike shorts were team issued and worn in training by Lawrence in 2013 as a member of the Cowboys. The shorts feature a “28” label in waistband and are unsigned.
