Description

Austin Golson is a free agent offensive lineman most recently playing for the New York Jets. He was signed shortly after the 2018 NFL Draft by the Jets as an undrafted free agent. Golson played college football for the Auburn Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels. Golson was a team captain who earned third-team All-SEC in 2017. He was also on the preseason Rimington Trophy watch list. He played as a graduate student in education and earned SEC Academic Honor Roll.

In 2013, as a freshman at Ole Miss, he played in 12 games — mostly at right guard, but some at tackle, where he played in high school. He sat out the 2014 season after his decision to transfer to Auburn, which was closer to home. When he became eligible again in 2015, the Tigers used him to replace former Rimington Award winner Reese Dismukes at center.

The senior from Prattville, Ala., started at three different positions in the first six games of 2017. Golson moved to right tackle from center to replace an injured Darius James in Week 3, bringing senior center Casey Dunn into the fold. When James returned to full health, he switched to left tackle to replace the underperforming Prince Tega Wanogho. Golson moved to left guard in a 44-23 win over Ole Miss after starter Mike Horton was injured. He’s also played right guard and blocking tight end in certain unbalanced line sets. He played exceptional during the second half of 2017, especially against Alabama and Georgia. Golson’s versatility allowed Auburn to weather a string of injuries along the line without having much drop-off up front.

Golson has solid technique at the point of attack and is a tremendous run blocker. His versatility and leadership put him in a special category. Coach Malzahn said about Golson “It says a lot about him and says a lot about his leadership. It’ll help him greatly moving forward at the next level. But he’s done a super job. You ask me his best position, I think he’s really a very good player at all the positions he’s played. He’s a real smart guy. He’s a real competitive guy. He’s an attention-to-detail guy. Can’t say enough good things about Austin Golson.”

The featured size 13 black and white nike force savage cleats were worn in training by Austin Golson as a member of the Auburn Tigers. The talented lineman has signed the cleats and added his “#73” to both cleats and “Training” to the left one and “WAR EAGLE” and “Training Shoes” to the right one in black. The cleats show very light use.
