Demario Davis is a linebacker for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Davis has also been a member of the Cleveland Browns. He played college football at Arkansas State.
Davis attended Brandon High School in Brandon, Mississippi, where he was a three-sport athlete in basketball, football and track. In football, he played mostly wide receiver as sophomore and junior, helping lead the team to its 14th playoff appearance in the last 16 years with a 7-5 record. As a senior, he recorded 81 tackles, six interceptions and one sack, while also receiving over 30 passes for 386 receiving yards with four scores. He was also a starter on the Brandon basketball team and competed as a high jumper with the varsity track & field team. He was selected to the MAC First Team All-State team and was named to the Clarion Ledger All-Metro team.
Davis was selected Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference football for the 2011 college football season as voted on by the Sun Belt Head Coaches and Media Representatives. Davis (Brandon, Miss.) was also named to the watch list for the 2011 Lombardi Award and was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection following his junior season. In 2010 he recorded 63 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was named preseason All-SBC heading into his junior season as well.
In 2011-2012, Davis was an all-Sun Belt Conference linebacker for Arkansas State. The Red Wolves defensive leader had 69 tackles for ASU, including 10 for loss. He also turned in solid showings at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. This tremendous effort led to him being drafted by the New York Jets in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Davis can really run, and it shows in every play he is in against the run. He has a burst in short areas to move toward the ball immediately off the snap, and can run down almost any back to meet him outside the tackles and cover the outside run. He chases hard and fast every play, and fits in great with the Jets defense because he plays free and contains the run from sideline to sideline.
In addition to his speed, special-teams skills and experience covering tight ends the one thing that stands out is his presence, a natural ability to lead through actions, words and confident personality. It shined through during his pre-draft interviews with scouts, coaches and front-office personnel at the Jets’ headquarters, and since the first day of rookie minicamp, they witnessed it on the field. Former Head Coach Rex Ryan has compared his leadership qualities to future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis. The sky is the limited for the talented middle linebacker!
Since being drafted, Davis became an iron man for the Jets. He was one of four New York Jets defenders to post 32 starts in 2013-14 combined. The only Jet who played more defensive snaps those two seasons than Davis’ 2,050 was ILB neighbor David Harris. The only Jets defender to play more total plays, including special teams, than Davis’ 2,350 snaps was S Dawan Landry. In 2014, Davis started all 16 games for the Jets and registered 116 tackles with 2 fumble recoveries.
In 2017, Davis has emerged as the New York Jets best defender with 97 tackles and 4.5 sacks through 12 games for the green and white. In week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, Davis led the team with 14 tackles.
The featured size 13 black and silver nike superbad pro cleats were game worn by Demario Davis in his 2012, his rookie season with the New York Jets. The Jets starting linebacker has signed both cleats and added “Game Worn Rookie Yr” to the left cleat. The cleats show light use.
