Rolle was dominant in 2012 with 56 tackles, six interceptions, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. That earned him Division II first-team All America honors. Rolle, an undrafted free agent in 2013, also had 16 interceptions in his collegiate career and finished off with an All-America senior season. He grew up in Wilson and then attended Catawba, a small Division II school just over 200 miles away in Salisbury, North Carolina. Known for its music and theater program, Catawba was one of the few schools that recruited Rolle.
According to Catawba’s sports information department, Rolle is one of just five Catawba players to have significant playing time in the NFL.
Rolle, a 6-foot, 188-pound cornerback was signed by the Packers to the practice squad on Oct. 8. He originally entered the NFL as a non-drafted free agent with Buffalo in May 2013. Rolle appeared in two preseason games for the Bills and also was on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.
On October 1, 2014, the Houston Texans signed Rolle off the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. He got his first and second interceptions on November 2, 2014 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. Rolle kept his hot streak going by intercepting Titans backup QB Jake Locker’s only pass attempt in Week 13. After the game, Rolle admitted he wasn’t sure he would ever play defense for Houston, due to the fact he was signed for special teams. Rolle completed the 2014 season with 19 tackles and 3 interceptions in limited time.
The featured white and black nike gloves were worn by Jumal Rolle in 2014 training camp as a member of the Green Bay Packers. The talented cornerback has signed the gloves and added “Go Pack Go!” and “Training Camp” in black. The signatures have smudged and the gloves show good use.
