Description
Drake Baldwin is a catcher for the Atlanta Braves. Baldwin was drafted in the 3rd Round (86th Pick) of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. Baldwin played college baseball for Missouri State. He’s the highest Bear to be selected since Jeremy Eierman was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the second round with the 70th overall pick in 2018.
On March 21st, 2025, the Braves selected Baldwin’s contract after he made the team’s Opening Day roster. He hit his first major league home run on April 16th, against Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jeff Hoffman at Rogers Centre. On November 10th, 2025 Baldwin was named the 2025 NL Rookie of the Year. After a stellar first year in the majors (statistically one of the best by a rookie catcher over the past half century), Baldwin earned 21 of the 3o first place votes, beating out fellow finalists Cade Horton of the Cubs and Caleb Durbin of the Brewers. It is the fifth time a Braves has won Rookie of the Year since 2000.
Baldwin joined Michael Harris II (2022), Ronald Acuña Jr. (’18), Craig Kimbrel (’11), Rafael Furcal (’00), David Justice (1990), Bob Horner (’78), Earl Williams (’71), Sam Jethroe (’50) and Alvin Dark (’48) as the only Braves to win the Rookie of the Year Award. Williams is the only other member of this group who was a catcher.
The featured game used official Minor League Baseball was signed by the 2025 NL Rookie of the Year Drake Baldwin. Baldwin signed the Baseball and added “2023 Post Season All Star” in blue. Baldwin was named an All-Star in 2023 for his stellar season with Rome with 14 HR’s, 54 RBI’s and an .854 OPS. The Baseball was obtained directly from former Atlanta Braves Prospect Cesar Rodriguez and was game used in an Atlanta Braves Minor League Baseball Game. Big Dawg Possessions worked directly with Drake to have him sign and inscribe the Baseball. The Ball shows good use!
