Description
Cypress Hill is a pioneering American hip-hop group from South Gate, California, widely recognized for their massive commercial success and cultural influence since their formation in 1988. They were the first Latino-American hip-hop group to achieve platinum and multi-platinum album sales, selling over 20 million albums worldwide to date.
Cypress Hill is famous for blending West Coast hip-hop with Latin influences, psychedelic rock, and a “punk-rock” mentality. They are pioneers of “stoner rap,” openly advocating for marijuana legalization through their music and activism. Their music often appealed to both hip-hop and rock/metal fans, leading to collaborations with artists like Pearl Jam and Sonic Youth. Their 1993 sophomore album, Black Sunday, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and featured their most iconic single, “Insane in the Brain”. Other top tracks include “How I Could Just Kill a Man” and “Hits from the Bong”. In 2019, they became the first hip-hop collective to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The featured 8×10 photo has been signed by lead vocalist B-Real and the primary producer and DJ for Cypress Hill, DJ Muggs. In addition to Cypress Hill, Muggs has produced some of hip-hop’s most recognizable anthems, including “Jump Around” by House of Pain and “Check Yo Self” by Ice Cube. B-Real is legendary for his high-pitched, nasal delivery—a unique vocal technique he developed to stand out in the crowded West Coast rap scene. For guaranteed authenticity, the photo includes an official Beckett Authentication Services serially numbered hologram.
