Brandon Whitaker is a free agent running back most recently playing for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. In 2011, Whitaker was named an East All-Star and won the CFL’s 2011 Rushing Title. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Montreal Alouettes in 2008. He played college football for the Baylor Bears.

In 2007, Whitaker led the Bears for most rushing yards and most catches, recording 533 yards and two touchdowns on 102 carries and 425 yards and three touchdowns on 58 receptions, In 2006, he registered 188 yards and one touchdown on 41 carries and 192 yards and one touchdown on 30 catches.

Coming into the 2011 season, Brandon Whitaker had two seasons under his belt as an understudy to Avon Cobourne, who was Montreal’s primary back for the last three seasons before being acquired by Hamilton in the 2011 offseason.

Incredibly, despite not taken the majority of first team reps, Whitaker came in on day one and took over where his protégée left off, rushing for over 1,000 yards and claiming the rushing title in his first full season. Whitaker started the season strong at 313 yards in his first four games. Although Whitaker only rushed over the century mark six times over the 18-game season, his yards were always critical and helped in getting first downs for the team. By season’s end, Whitaker accumulated 1,381 rushing yards on 226 attempts, beating last year’s runner-up from Toronto, Cory Boyd, who finished with 1,141 yards.

In 2014, Whitaker started 13 games for the Montreal Alouettes and compiled 764 rushing yards and one touchdown on 169 carries while adding 42 receptions for 274 yards and a touchdown.
