Dan Skuta is a free agent linebacker most recently playing for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2009. Skuta has also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

He played college football at Grand Valley State University and was named First-team All-America honors in NCAA Division II as a senior and helped lead his teams to four-year record of 51-2, with two national titles.

Dan Skuta scored his first touchdown with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013. The linebacker returned a 47-yard touchdown after recovering a fumble forced by his San Francisco 49ers teammate Patrick Willis at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. Skuta played in 16 games, starting 8 and recording 28 tackles. He was a major contributor to the 49ers stellar defense. Former San Francisco 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh has stated about Skuta as a new starter: “He’s just a good, Flint, Michigan, guy. He’s like Joe Staley, like me; we’re Michigan guys. Just something blue-collar, something gritty, determination about those guys.”

Skuta played in 30 games with 18 starts in two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Skuta played inside linebacker in Cincinnati, and played mostly outside with San Francisco. He also can play in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. In 2014 with the San Francisco 49ers, Skuta was a defensive force playing in 14 games and registering 33 tackles with 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.

The 6-2, 252-pounder has appeared in 112 games with 32 starts over eight NFL seasons with the Bengals (2009-12), 49ers (2013-14) and Jaguars (2015-16). Skuta has registered 200 tackles, seven sacks and six forced fumbles.
