Description

Drew Campbell is an outfielder for the Rome Braves. Campbell was drafted in the 23rd Round (697th Overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. Campbell was a four-year letterwinner at Jeffersonville High School in Indiana. The talented outfielder was named to the All-State team during senior season. Campbell was selected as the Southern Indiana Player of the Year in 2016 by the Louisville Courier-Journal after hitting eight home runs with 27 RBI and 30 runs scored in 25 games for the Red Devils. After graduating high school, Campbell played one season at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois before transferring to Louisville. Campbell finished with a .294 batting average with seven home runs, 31 RBI and 35 runs scored in 50 games.

In 2018, his 1st season with Louisville, Campbell finished with .313 batting average, two home runs, 31 RBIs, eight doubles and 22 runs scored in 58 games, including 45 starts. He connected for at least one hit in each of the four NCAA Regional games and was 6-for-17 (.353) with three doubles and three RBIs overall in the Lubbock Regional. Campbell also hit safely in each of the final three games at the ACC Championship. In one of his best games of the year, Campbell was 2-for-4 with double, triple, three RBIs and four runs scored in Feb. 18 win against George Mason in Charleston, S.C.

In 2019, Campbell started 52 games and played in 63 overall, hitting .309 with two home runs and 39 RBIs. He became the first Louisville player to be named to the All-CWS team, hitting .462 (6-for-13) with three RBIs. He was super clutch going 3-for-4 including a walk-off base hit against Mississippi State in an elimination game at the College World Series on June 16. Campbell also finished just a home run shy of the cycle, driving in two and scoring three runs in game two of the Super Regional versus East Carolina on June 8. He added to his impressive resume going 2-for-4 with a double against East Carolina in the first game of the Super Regional on June 7. Campbell also had two hits and drove in a pair against Illinois State in the NCAA Regional on June 2.

In 2021, Campbell split time between the FCL Braves, (Rookie Level) Augusta GreenJackets (Low-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) and the Rome Braves. (High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) The 23-year old continued his torrid hitting finishing 2021 with 32 Hits in 104 At-Bats for a .308 average and .907 OPS. The future is bright for the Braves center fielder!
