Description

Josh Mauro is a defensive end for the New York Giants. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014 as an undrafted free agent. He has also been a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Mauro played his college football for Stanford University where he was a defensive force for the Cardinal.

Josh Mauro attended L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas where he played defensive end, linebacker, tight end and quarterback. The defensive end registered 80 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 12.0 sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one blocked kick as a senior. Mauro also caught seven passes for 155 yards and a TD as a tight end and for his efforts was selected District 5-5A first team and earned All-State honors from the AP.

Mauro flew mostly under the radar in his first three years at Stanford, despite appearing as a reserve in 22 games during his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons. That all changed in 2012, when he racked up 6 sacks, 19 tackles and a pair of fumble recoveries as one of Stanford’s first defensive linemen off the bench.

In 2013, Mauro would start 11 games, record 51 tackles (more than double the total of any other true defensive lineman on the team), force a pair of fumbles, had four sacks and collect his 1st career interception. In the process, Josh Mauro didn’t just provide Stanford with the snaps it sorely needed at the position; he also made a name for himself, earning All-Pac-12 honorable mention and an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game. Josh Mauro concluded his college career playing in 48 games, including 11 starts as a senior, and recording 81 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, one INT, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

During his rookie season in 2014 with the Arizona Cardinals, Josh Mauro played 5 games with 6 tackles and a pass defended. In 2015, he played 14 games with 15 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defended, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.

In 2016, Mauro started 13 of 15 games he played in recording a career-high 42 tackles and 13 tackles for loss. Set to be a restricted free agent in 2017, Mauro signed a two-year contract to remain with the Arizona Cardinals on January 12th, 2017.

On March 19th, 2018, Mauro signed with the New York Giants reuniting with his former defensive coordinator in Arizona, James Bettcher.

The featured black and silver nike cleats were game worn by Josh Mauro when the Stanford Cardinal faced the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2013 Rose Bowl. Stanford running back Stepfan Taylor rushed for 89 yards and an early touchdown, while Hogan passed for 123 yards, but Stanford (12-2) won the 99th Rose Bowl with a shutdown effort by its defense. Although Stanford didn’t score many style points against the Badgers, the Cardinal could celebrate because they didn’t let Wisconsin score any points at all after halftime, holding the Badgers to 82 yards for the 20-14 victory. Stanford head coach David Shaw became the first African‐American head coach to win a Rose Bowl, as well as a BCS game.

Mauro was one of the defensive stars for Stanford with 6 tackles including a TFL (tackle for loss). The defensive end has signed the cleats in silver and added “Worn in Rosebowl Stanford 20 Wisconsin 14” to the right cleat. The cleats were taped up. Future Star in the NFL!
