Description

Logan Brown is a catcher for the Atlanta Braves organization. Brown made the Braves 60 player pool roster for the start of the 2020 MLB Season. Brown will most likely catch for pitchers in between games. With all of the arms that the Braves are going to be carrying in the coming months, having capable backstops to help continue these pitchers’ development and keep them fresh is going to be invaluable. In 2019, Brown threw out 37% of would be base stealers in those 48 games for Florida.

Brown lettered in tennis and baseball at Mt. Vernon High School. (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) He earned All-Southwest Indiana honors after batting .384 as a senior. His dad, Kevin Brown is a former USI baseball All-American and was the Texas Rangers’ top pick in the second round of the 1994 MLB amateur draft. He played 7 seasons for 4 major league baseball teams and finished his career with a .254 batting average with a .311 on base average and .450 slugging percentage in 85 games.

In his senior year for the Screaming Eagles, Brown was named second-team All-Midwest Region by the ABCA, NCBWA, and D2CCA. He was also named first-team All-GLVC East Division starting 58 of 59 games behind the plate for the Eagles. The talented catcher hit a career-high .338 with career-best 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, four home runs, and 40 RBIs. He also set a USI in-season hitting streak record of 21 games, breaking the 19-game mark held by Trent Gunn and Josh Perkins. Brown also excelled in huge games batting a team-high .395 during the 2018 post-season (15-38) and hitting .409 (9-22) in the NCAA II Tournament.

Brown, 22, decided in June, 2018 to forgo his senior year at the University of Southern Indiana after the Braves selected him the 35th round of the MLB Draft. He signed for $125,000, according to Baseball America. He became the eighth USI player to be drafted, joining his father, Kevin, a second-round pick in 1994 who ultimately reached the majors. Logan landed on MLB teams’ radars for being a wall behind the plate, having a left-handed bat and a release time on par with big-leaguers. Going pro was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up, especially coming from a Division II school compared to some of his Braves cohorts from Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC powerhouses.

In 51 games with the Rome Braves in 2019, Brown posted a .301/.351/.383 slashline at the plate with 26 runs batted in and 11 doubles. He also caught 19 baserunners stealing — 40 percent of the total attempts on him. For his effort, he was named to the South Atlantic league’s all-star team. In his 1st full season in the minors, Brown played in 99 games and split time between Rome and the Florida Fire Frogs. The Braves prospect hit .272 with 100 hits and 46 RBI’s.

The featured white and red Nike Force3 Batting Gloves were game worn by Logan Brown in 2019 as a member of the Florida Fire Frogs. The talented catcher has signed the gloves in red and added “Game Worn” to each glove in black. The gloves show great use!!!
