Description

Shawn Lauvao is a free offensive guard, most recently playing for the Washington Redskins. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played his collegiate football at Arizona State University. Lauvao started his last 33 games at Arizona State—17 at left guard, 12 at left tackle and four at right tackle. He earned Second Team All-Pac-10 honors during his junior and senior years. He graduated in 3 1/2 years with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and is close to earning his Masters.

Lauvao was one of the more versatile and dominating drive blockers, as the Sun Devils accounted for more than 65 percent of its rushing yardage over his left side the last two years of his ASU career. Lauvao was one of the few bright spots on a young and inexperienced offense allowing just three sacks during the team’s last 813 pass plays.

Since moving into the starting lineup midway through his sophomore seasons, Lauvao performed with great consistency, no matter what duties the coaches assigned him. He took over left guard duties for the last nine games of his sophomore campaign and remained there for the first eight games of his junior season before closing out that year with four starts at right tackle.

As a senior, he shifted to the demanding left tackle slot, helping the team improve its offensive output to an average of 334.42 yards per game. Eight of his nine touchdown-resulting blocks came while blocking in-line in 2009.

Lauvao was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round (92nd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. Lauvao became a starter his second season, starting all 16 games the next two seasons.

On March 11th, 2014, Lauvao signed a four-year, $17 million contract with the Washington Redskins. He took over the starting left guard position in the Redskins’ offensive line after the previous starter, Kory Lichtensteiger, switched to center.

The NFL Scouting Combine is a week-long showcase, occurring every February in Indianapolis, Indiana Lucas Oil Stadium (and formerly at the RCA Dome until 2008), where college football players perform physical and mental tests in front of NFL coaches, general managers and scouts. With increasing interest in the NFL Draft, the scouting combine has grown in scope and significance, allowing personnel directors to evaluate upcoming prospects in a standardized setting.

The featured black and white nike speed cleats were worn by Lauvao at the 2010 NFL Combine. Lauvao was a top performer in the bench press posting 33 reps, the three-cone drill with a 7.56-second time and in the 20-yard shuttle with a 4.51 second time. Lauvao wore these cleats for his 40, broad jump, 3 cone drill and shuttle run. These cleats can be viewed in his combine video. Before the combine, Lauvao was projected as a 5th-6th round pick. After his tremendous performance, he was drafted in the 3rd round. Lauvao has signed both size 15 cleats in silver. Awesome!
