Description

Dean Muhtadi is an American professional wrestler and former NFL defensive lineman currently signed to WWE under the ring name Mojo Rawley, performing on the SmackDown brand. He also played football for the Green Bay Packers & Arizona Cardinals. He played college football for the Christopher Newport Captains, and upon transferring, for the Maryland Terrapins.

During the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff, Mojo Rawley and Rob Gronkowski of the NFL’s New England Patriots made for a perfect team in the 4th annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Rawley won by last eliminating Jinder Mahal, who was involved in an in-ring altercation moments earlier with Rob Gronkowski.

In 2004 and 2005, Muhtadi played college football for Division III Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. After redshirting his freshman college season due to mononucleosis, Muhtadi started at defensive tackle for the Newport Captains his sophomore year. He then accomplished a remarkable feat by transferring to the University of Maryland in the Atlantic Coast Conference where he earned a scholarship, and a starting position. In 2008, Muhtadi finished third in sacks for the Terps. He was also only the second player in the past 15 years to play all defensive line positions in a game for the Terrapins.

Muhtadi currently owns several of Maryland’s all time records for strength and speed: 225 lb. Bench Press Test: 36 repetitions (Team Record) 40 Yard Dash: 4.78 (Defensive Tackle Record) Power Clean: 390 lbs. (Defensive Line Record) Vertical Jump: 36.5 inches (Defensive Line Record) Pro Agility (20 yard shuttle): 4.37 (Defensive Line Record) In his three years at Maryland, Muhtadi was one of the top student-athletes in the Atlantic Coast Conference and has earned his MBA.

Muhtadi was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent following the 2009 NFL Draft on May 4, 2009. He earned his contract on a tryout basis by being one of three players signed out of 25 trying out for the team. Muhtadi was the only player on the depth chart listed at both Defensive End and Nose Guard. On September 3, 2009 against the Tennessee Titans, Muhtadi finished third on the team with 5 tackles, 1 for loss, and a forced fumble in a spectacular performance. Toward the end of the game, Muhtadi forced a fumble to save a touchdown.

T.C. Williams High School and its former football coaches, Herman Boone and Bill Yoast, were featured in the 2000 motion picture Remember the Titans, starring Denzel Washington and Will Patton. The movie was a dramatization of the consolidation of Alexandria’s three public high schools into one in the fall of 1971. That year, the city of Alexandria consolidated three four-year high schools into a single two-year school, teaching solely juniors and seniors. As a result, the best of the varsity football squads at George Washington High School (converted to a middle school), Hammond High School (converted to a middle school) and T.C Williams High School united in what amounted to an all-city, all-star team at T.C. Williams. The city’s public schools were legally desegregated in 1959, but the three high schools had become racially imbalanced during the 1960s due to housing patterns. Racial tension is one of the themes of the film.

The climax of the movie is the fictionalized 1971 AAA state championship football game between T.C. Williams and George C. Marshall High School. The dramatic license taken in the movie was to convert what was actually a regular-season matchup between T.C. Williams and Marshall into a made-for-Hollywood state championship. In reality, the Marshall game was the toughest game T.C. Williams played all year and the actual state championship (against Andrew Lewis High School of Salem) was a 27-0 blowout. As depicted in the movie, the real Titans won the Marshall game on a fourth down come-from-behind play at the very end of the game.

The featured hat was issued to Dean Muhtadi when he attented T.C Williams and played on the high school football team. He has signed this sweet hat and added “Remember the Titans!!!!!” Awesome!
